You may have noticed the existence of a WriMo Challenges folder in our gallery. There's a reason for that. 8-)

The annual National Poetry Writing Month (NaPoWriMo) will be running from April 1 to 30, as will Script Frenzy.

NaPoWriMo 2013Oi, scriptwriters, playwrights - go see our equally awesome article on Script Frenzy 2013. :dummy:
If you haven't realised yet, it's near the end of March.
Some of our poets know what's coming up soon.
Some of you are about to find out. :eyes:
And INB4 some of you sling Eliot at me, yes, "April is the cruellest month." :ahoy:
National Poetry Writing Month
It's thirty days of April. It's one poem every day, and thirty poems by the end of the month. Write a poem each day, for every day of April. Any sort of poem - fixed verse, free verse, heroic epic, haiku, Google poetry, prose poems - any sort of poems. That's the challenge.

There are already a number of events planned, and more will be announced over the next week.

:star: Including ours! :star:

In the meantime, if you want to keep all those excess words from clogging your system, you could try entering our co-founder Cassildra's AWAKENING & ASLEEPENING Contest.

CLOSED!Spring is almost here, for those of us in the northern hemisphere!  The cycle of life is turning again, and that means baby animals, fresh shoots, and budding trees.  The world up here seems to be awakening!
Of course, those of you in the southern hemisphere have beauty and a part of the life cycle, too!  Leaves are falling from trees, and animals are prepping for their winter hibernation.   Unless of course you live in a subtropical or tropical region, like Vocable.  Lucky so and so! ;)
I'd like to present a contest.  Write 1500 to 3000 words for me, using the themes AWAKENING or ASLEEPENING however you'd like! Sun
THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED.
THE RULES:
The theme is either Awakening or Asleepening.  Use one however you like, but don't try to use both!Minimum word count is 1500.  Maximum is 3000.  Put word count

Or even come up with something for the relaunch of fotoFRIDAY. If you can find something to say about that photograph which also meets our submission guidelines, we'll add it to our gallery as well.

FotoFriday: The ReLaunch!Hello!
Many years ago, when the "old schoolers" still ruled the forums and somestrangebirds was a gallery director, we used to have a regular ongoing challenge in the literature community known as "FotoFriday". Although the concept isn't entirely exclusive to deviantART, it was very popular and we have decided it is time to bring it back!
Fotofriday was originally run by secondmagpie, GeneratingHype and RetroZombie (to name a few!). We intend to honour the old school and introduce it to the new!
How does FotoFriday Work?
Every other Friday we will post a photograph from a deviants gallery that we find intriguing and interesting. Using this photograph as a prompt, you are encouraged to write something, anything based on it. It doesn't matter what form of writing, how much you write or even whether you end up with a complete piece- this is all about the prompt and what it spurs!
Are there any rules?
There is only one

:eager: As for what we're planning: look for an announcement around March 30, one week from today.
